LA Fashion Collective

The LA Fashion Collective event is definitely a more intimate affair then the typical runway show. The models are stationed up on platforms instead of long runways and guarded by a velvet robe as they gracefully move about in small strong motions.

Polaris Cosmetics, creative director Cristina Romeo, was "thrilled when we were asked to once again complete the make-up for the LA Fashion Collective. The wonderful James Campbell is a pleasure to work with." The evening proved to be a very successful one with designers Katie May, Alexx Jae and Pleasure Doing Business showcasing selected pieces from their Fall 2011 collections. The fashion styling for the showcase was provided by the new fashion website Wardrobe Wear's Amy Nicole Berstein. This event truly brings out all the wonderfully fashionable in Los Angeles such as Lindsay Albanese, Laurie Brucker, Kelsi Smith, Jayne Seward and Erin Weinger.

Furthermore, because this events brings out some of the best in the Los Angeles scene the press coverage was fantastic as well. Trade publication Apparel News featured the event on their front page and did a lovely write up. Once again, Polaris was honored to be apart of the event and hope that our fans of Polaris can come out and join us next time for a night of fashion, makeup and fun!!!

LA Fashion Week FIRST.LA

(California Style at its best, Spring 2011)

During LA Fashion Week this past October 15th, Directives West hosted for the second time a seasonal fashion show called FIRST.LA, which Polaris Cosmetics was the proud makeup sponsor for the event. FIRST.LA offers an exclusive first look at the most exciting trends and resources emerging on the west coast hot from the Runway. This seasons Spring 2011 designers included Whitley Kros, Yana K, Ai for Ai, Moon Collection, A. Mullier, R.P.S., gwynedds, The Sinclair, MFGRP Jeans, Fraiche, Champagne & Strawberry, Matty M, Boyfriend/Girlfriend, and Couture By W.



Directives West is the West Coast merchandising consulting division of The Doneger Group. They provide clients with comprehensive market analysis in all categories of fashion business, including women's contemporary, better, junior, moderate, accessories, men's, young men's and children's, with the unique perspective and influence of West Coast fashion and lifestyle. Polaris was very excited to work closely with the trend setting company on the makeup look, our creative team did a great job and this look will definitely be a hot Spring trend... bright lips!

The show was held in the courtyard at the California Market Center in downtown Los Angeles. For the event the courtyard was lit up quite beautifully due in part to fashion show producer James Campbell who knows how to set the stage and run a show. Well done James, thank you for having us!!!



The makeup look was also inspired by the current runways of the world with a natural eye and face with bright pink or orange lips. Also the hair was sponsored by the fabulous Studio DNA Salon and put up in a high ballerina type bum, also a great hair trend for Spring 2011.

LA Fashion Week CMC Contemporary Show

Our first show for Polaris Cosmetics during Los Angeles Fashion Week last Friday, October 15th, was the Contemporary Women's Spring 2011 show hosted by the California Market Center and produced by Jeffrey Lindsay Relf of The Fashion Office.







Collective shows are always a creative challenge for hair and makeup because you are showcasing multiple designers and their visions and aesthetics are different. Therefore, establishing one cohesive look is only for the talented. Which being partial to Polaris' Cristina Romeo and team they did an amazing job on the makeup. The inspiration for the makeup look was provide by The Fashion Office and focused on bright colored eye shadow that was painted high all over the eye lid. Very 80's! Polaris Cosmetics was so excited to be apart of this show and we are definitely looking forward to next season. Special thanks to the Polaris Cosmetics creative team, Jeffrey from The Fashion Office and Audrey from the CMC.





Designers in the show included Mavi Jeans, Voom by Joy Han, Eileen Fisher, Soraya by Rozi and XCVI Wearables. We loved everything but the bright colored prints were just so much fun. You could live in Eileen Fisher apparel and Mavi still makes amazing jeans.

LA Fashion Week

Spring 2011 Fashion week is upon us and Polaris Cosmetics is excited to be creating fabulous makeup looks on two different shows both on Friday at the California Market Center in Downtown Los Angeles. Polaris Cosmetics will be sponsoring the makeup at the California Market Center Contemporary Fashion Show on Friday, October 15th at Noon located on the 13th floor Penthouse of the CMC.
